What makes Lisbon such a special place? Creator of this walk, Rodrigo wants you to discover the answer yourself as you explore – and experience – the city’s traditional neighbourhoods off the beaten path. Fun location-based riddles will take you from one local gem to another: impressive street art pieces in Alfama and Bairro Alto, mosaic pavements in Baixa and Chiado, and charming narrow streets of Príncipe Real. Along the way, you’ll connect closer to Lisbon by learning about its history.
This playful walk across Lisbon’s historic neighbourhoods sharpens your senses and encourages you to appreciate the most wonderful – and often hidden – details around you. Whether you know Lisbon or just start exploring here, this experience gives you a perspective on discovery that will inspire your curiosity wherever you go next.
Pssst! This route combines two shorter ones into an extended experience. If you prefer a shorter walk in those neighbourhoods, choose Alfama & Baixa: views and outdoor art or Bairro Alto & Príncipe Real: local hangouts and forgotten stories.
This trail was originally created by Secret City Trails co-founders Kristina and Wendy.
