The Hidden Gems of Amsterdam’s City Centre: a short trail

This short trail to discover Amsterdam’s City Centre is an experience where you solve 8 clues on your phone, via our web app, simply using your unique link (which you receive via text message after payment) in your smartphone’s browser. The trail takes you exploring the City Centre and its secret, and lesser-known places as you search for answers hidden across cute streets, some of our favourite spots and charming courtyards.

Please note that this trail is a shorter version of The Secrets of Amsterdam’s City Centre trail, if you have more time, or are in for a bigger adventure, book the full trail here.

While cracking the clues, each correct answer tells you a little more about the places you pass by or shares our favourite gems nearby!

The price for the trail is 17.00 euros per team. We recommended playing with 2-5 people per team.

You can play one trail per user at a time. You can share your unique link with your teammates so everyone can see the clues. Only one player should be submitting the answers. If you run out of battery, someone else on the team can continue submitting the answers using the same link.

If you want to play with more than one team, simply buy more than one trail. You will receive a unique link per trail, which can be opened on any smartphone with data.

How Does It Work?

  • Sign up and pay for the short trail across the City Centre online. You will receive a text message with instructions within 1 hour from completing the payment.
  • Make your way to the intersection of Grimburgwal and Oudezijds Achterburgwal between 10:00-15:00 (daily) by opening the link, that you received upon purchase, in your browser on your phone. Simply press the Start button to begin playing.
  • Solve 8 clues by typing the answers in the text box and hit the ‘I’ve got it!’ button to submit your answer.
  • Enjoy discovering the city as each correct answer takes you to your next location within walking distance.
  • The answers to some clues are hidden inside places and spaces we like. We don’t take any commission for bringing you there – we simply think they add something extra to your experience.
  • Keep in mind that most answers are made up of one word only or a number – there are a few exceptions.
  • Ask for a hint, by clicking the ‘I need help’ button, if you need a little help solving a clue. HINTS will get you nearer to the location where you need to search for the answer to your clue.
  • Please note there’s only one HINT per clue. Each HINT you ask for will add 10mins ‘penalty time’ to your overall time.
  • In case you’d like to skip a clue without solving it and want to receive the next one, press the ‘Skip this clue’ button. We recommend asking for a HINT before you skip a clue to make sure you are near the right spot to continue from.
  • Skipping a clue adds 20mins ‘penalty time’ to your overall time.
  • You can always close and reopen your browser – and using your same unique link, you can continue playing where you left off.
